I think you will have to spend a bit more but it is so worth it. Most of us are not independently wealthy, so a healthy kitten = not much money in vet bills.

Welcome Anthony, if you are not committed to the idea of getting a kitten you can often find retired breeders for around $500. In fact, there is a Yahoo group just for advertising retired Savannahs: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/savannahcatsavailable/
