One Fast Cat vs Go Cat Wheel

I know both of these exercise wheels have been discussed in several threads (and I've read all of them!), but there haven't been any recent postings. I don't know that I will be lucky enough to find anyone who is familiar with both wheels, but I would like to find out if anyone has some comments on either or both wheels to help me compare them and determine which would be best for my kitty and my pocket book! I have a neutered male, who is fairly small, about 10 to 11 pounds, and 5 years old. I guess I better confess, he is not a Savannah, but is a Cornish Rex. (I really appreciate this site though, because our Stinky seems to have a lot of the same personality and energy traits as Savannahs and your comments have been very helpful.) Stinky spends a lot of time cat napping, but has daily short periods of running around the house chasing whatever he can find--or nothing at all. I like the Go Cat Wheel because the base and the roller system seems to be better made and more sturdy. I like the One Fast Cat wheel because of the price and color. I don't know if Stinky will like a wheel or if he will use it very often (but I suspect he will), so those are factors I also need to consider. I would like to hear comments anyone would like to make on their experience with the quality and durability of these wheels and their opinion on the suitability of the wheel for my kitty's needs. Thanks!

I have the OFC Wheel and one of the two brothers loves it and the other won't have anything to do with it. The OFC wheel does take some care putting it together and the possibility of some tuning issues. Perhaps that has changed, but when I received mine there was enough QC issues to make it a chore to operate as smoothly as one would expect.

I have the Go Cat Wheel and my cats love it! It is very sturdy, and there is no issue when even my biggest cats run on it. It's easy to put together and easy to move, but has never come off its rollers. I had the Cat Wheel Co. wheel before and it would 'travel' whenever my cats ran on it, I do not have this problem with the Go Cat Wheel.

Thanks everybody. I went back and forth between the two wheels and finally ordered the Go Cat Wheel today. I think the OFC wheel would be fine, but I thought the GCW might be a little quieter. I used the link on the Chat and luckily I have a cash back credit on my cc, so that will pay for a lot of the difference in price. Can't wait to get it. I hope my kitty likes it!

The go cat wheel is the best by far...i have used both...i have had almost every cat wheel made... It's just a better made wheel than the cheaper one.

Yes, you definitely get what you pay for. The OFC wheel is cheaper looking and has some flaws, but I couldn't pass up the cheap price since I wasn't sure if Shango would even use the wheel and had already spent a ton of $ on my kitten & other new toys/cat furniture. Whenever it needs replacing, I will probably end up replacing it with a Go Cat Wheel since I like the base a lot better and it looks much sturdier. In theory, any cat wheel will do the same thing, but you will definitely see a difference in the quality depending on the one you decide to get. I was also expecting Shango to be smaller when I decided on the OFC wheel... if you have a spotted moose or expect to have a big cat, the OFC wheel isn't the best choice. At this rate, Shango may end up out growing it before it's worn out & needs replaced.

Update on the wheel! I bought the more expensive Go Cat Wheel, but I think the One Fast Cat wheel would have been fine, too. My kitty had no interest whatsoever. I thought I had made a big mistake. But I was patient. I put treats on the wheel and toys, but didn't try to get him to use it. After a few weeks, he became more relaxed with the wheel being in "his" office. Then, I started trying to entice him to get all 4 feet on the wheel with treats. That didn't work so well until I had the idea to squeeze little blobs of gel Felovite on the wheel. So he started going after that and then walking to get to the next blob. He finally graduated to walking on the wheel when I held a treat in front of him. Now he uses it several times a day without any prompting. (Of course middle of the night is the favorite time!) He doesn't run for a long time, usually just short spurts--sometimes slow and sometimes fast. The good new is, he likes it, he really likes it!!!

Good tips there!

I really like referring to the cats room as their office.
