From Kitten to Cat

So I have noticed that once my Savannah's reached a certain age, they stopped chasing everything that moved and began stalking and then chasing...is there a guide to what kittens do at certain ages?

I don't know that there is. Sometimes my older guys and gals still chase like mad, only Vinnie stalks some, Uno is still a big chaser.

Simon is a big stalker here. I cannot remember when he started doing it, but he drives me crazy when he does it because usually it starts a fight.

For some reason, I noticed that both Zuri and taj's behavior changed at a certain age...when they were babies, they would chase anything and now they still chase, but do quite a bit more stalking to chase their "prey"

Keljin has stalked ever since I first met him at 8 weeks old. All his siblings were chasing each other and bouncing off the walls, and Keljin was patiently waiting and watching around the corner, until someone came close enough for him to pounce out at! Really I think its just a matter of personality, all cats grow up differently and play styles vary and change with time too.

Yes, I'm sure it does...I was just wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing ;)

Kronos always stalked things too, but you are right, as a kitten he would be more inclined to chase things like mad. Now he will chase, and go reposition for the stalk... chase, then reposition. It almost makes playing with him frustrating because with him going to check out a new hiding position all the time I feel like I can't get his energy out as well anymore!

What I have noticed with age however, is how he rubs on things. As a kitten he would only head butt people. Now I am noticing he is starting to rub my legs with his whole body - he never did that before until just the other day. At this time I also have never seen him rub on inanimate objects (getting facial pheromone on things to mark territory) like adult cats too... I bet he will start to soon!

Alisha, you explained it much better than I did...this is exactly what Taj and Zuri do...and yes, it gets frustrating, but you still gotta love it :p

Perhaps now that they're older they're just trying to conserve energy... ;)
