Gizzards

I recently ordered gizzards with my very large (750.00)
Order from Hare today. Is it considered organ meat like liver or more like heart?
How much should I give him? Just a little bit daily?
I try to give him about an inch square of liver at his night time meal. Should I give him the same amount of gizzard at his breakfast meal?
Thanks

Gizzard is organ meat. Nothing like the liver so you can feed more often. And you don't have to feed liver every day. 1-2X per week is fine.

Gizzards are great. You can't feed too much. Mine don't like them apparently because they are too darn lazy to chew that much even when I cut the gizzards up. They do like to bat them around the house if I try to feed whole gizzards. (Please don't think badly about my lazy SVs:big grin:)

I think we are jealous of your lazy savannahs. Not for long though...I bet Atticus will get them moving

My crew hated gizzards. They turned their nose up on them every time I added them in. Never had any better success than the single one a whole chicken came with. Was really hoping they would like turkey gizzards as that would have made for some serious bargain shopping after turkey day.

According to info in the Cat CRAP Facebook group, gizzzards should be considered part of the proportion of muscle meat and should not be considered part of the 10% recommended excreting organ. But opinions seem to vary a lot, which makes it hard to be sure we are feeding a balanced diet. Like the website below shows gizzards as a muscle meat, but only seems to recommend 6% bone. Which differs from other sources which recommend 10% or even 15% bone. It is confusing and seems important to get it right...
