hello everyone i have a 4yro ml f2 savanah who currenly eats wet/dry mix then boiled chicken then liver/gizards in the course of the day, but i was thinking of going away for 5 days and wanted to know if he would be ok eating the dry cat food i have out for my other cats in a large 1 gal feeder. im thinking maybe he got spoiled and might not eat the dry food alone but ive seen him once in a blue moon eat the dry alone or to leave someone to come in daily and feed him the wet/dry mix then leave out some chicken? any help will be grealtly appreciated...

Hi...are you thinking of leaving your cats alone for five days? Not sure what you are referring to...but if he is not eating dry now, he will probably not want it later.

Someone should definitely come in and feed your cats...savannahs can get into all kinds of trouble when left to their own devices ;)

yes for 5 days he will nibble on the dry on occasion but if I'm here he will come up to me and verbally let me know he wants other food, was thinking of maybe have someone come in and leave some other food once a day if I don't see him eat more dryfood before I leave thanx.

Not to mention what they'd do without a clean litter box for five days...

well...I would never chance leaving my cats alone for five days...what if he doesn't eat the dry food? will he have enough water? what if something happens in your apt? not a great thing to do IMO...

I left my Bengal cats alone for four days...with daily supervision by a former grade school teacher. She ended up giving them daily grades on their behavior.

Monday: A+
Tuesday: A+
Wednesday: F-
Thursday: A+

Turns out they could only stand me being gone for two full days before they went haywire. While I've only had a SV for 1.5 months, I imagine the same would happen.

Your house is going to be a smoking crater if you leave for a week... ^_-

I would try and get someone to come in and check on them daily- not only to be sure they're eating and drinking and to calculate DDWYWG (damage done while you were gone) but to clean out their litterbox. Once their litterbox gets too icky, they decide they're not stepping in that and then they'll find a 'better' place to go.
