Hello!

Hello I am currently attempting to get a Savannah kitten from an unintended breeding. Mom and dad are both F5's. I have read so much on the breed that I am sure I want one. When they talk of the mischief and the things they get into, I know it can't be worse then my beloved Slim, who passed recently. He was a domestic long hair, that if he could get in it or on it he did. So I am ready and thrilled to add a Savannah to my household. Any advice would be wonderful.

Welcome Sabrinafair! I am sure that your Slim was great training for Savannah ownership...I had a most vivacious domestic shorthair, Wasabi, before my Savannahs and everything they do reminds me of her :)

My best advice is to keep your sense of humor, you'll be needing to see the funny side of everything your Savannah kitten gets into :)

My buddy Jester, a DSH was a precursor for having a Savannah, much like Slim. It was his beloved character that pushed me over the edge to get an SV and I still miss him dearly. As much as Jester loved getting into things and never bowing to anyone, he never had the athleticism that our boy Chongo does. The things that Jester would do to get himself in trouble pale in comparison to Chongo, as he is like a two year old with the athletic ability of Michael Jordan.

That said, welcome and know that the joys brought from a Savannah are incredibly vast and never ending.

Welcome Sabrinafair. Thumbs up for Savannahs.

Two weeks into welcoming two of them and I am loving every minute of it. Even the blood-loss from gfvvcv - Yuki approves this message - Yuki kneading her claws into my shoulders thousands of times. As you can see she is already trying to manipulate the iPad when I try posting on the forums. Yeti meanwhile is sitting on the big box relaxing to the sounds cicadas are making in the tree out back.

You too will find every crazy moment fun, even the painfully sharp claws. :)
