How to fund raise or similar

Both my girlfriend and I have health problems, mine being the more imminent disaster, and we've been trying to come up with ways to fund raise or make some extra money to fund the operation I'm going to be needing by next year. We both have jobs, and make a good amount (though most goes to rent and bills), but because of a pre-existing condition, most health insurance won't cover me.

We've come up with bake sale, selling paintings, making shirts and cute things people would like, but I just wanted a bit more brainstorming from my friends here at Savannah Cat Chat just for some more ideas.

You should try one of the websites that help out with something like this...I will have to think about this for ideas...if you are going to ask for something like donations, you need to be specific about what the problem is and surgery needed. You should set up a specific PP account where the donations go so people know you are legit.

Yeah. I don't like the idea of donations because it's no one's job but my own to pay for it, which is why I wanted to sell things or make thing; paint, sew, etc. for the money.

I was actually going to say car wash too. Maybe hand string some jewelry? bookmarks, charms, collars, decorative photo frames.

Oh I know how you feel & I'm so sorry that you are put in such a terrible position. (Don't get me started on healthcare in America! lol) I had a Pulmonary Embolism at 19, three months after my son was born. Because I wasn't living with my dad any more my insurance was going to expire on August 1st. I had a Pulmonary Embolism on July 28th. LUCKILY hospital bills were still paid for entirely since I was still covered while I was in the hospital & when the P.E. actually occured. But this is something that will effect me for the rest of my life. Maybe one of these days Glenn & I will get married & TriCare can pay for it.

Are you crafty at all? I like Breanna's idea of making jewelry, bookmarks, collars, ect. Good luck to you.

making items for cats?

My next door neighbor makes cat toys out of baby socks. She buys cute little baby socks when they're on sale, stuffs them with some batting and catnip, and sews them up. She usually makes them for fund raisers for the different charities she supports.

My boys love 'em!

How about making walking jackets for cats and dogs? I make my own to send home with my kittens. I made my own pattern...they are very easy to whip up in less than half an hour.
