Schrodinger cracks me up! The last several days I've woke up in the middle of the night for various reasons only to discover that at some point in the night he has brought one or more toys onto the bed for us to play with (but I was asleep so didn't play).

Anyways he's almost 5 months old and he will be making a visit to the vet for micro chipping and to be fixed. When I called the vet to find out costs for everything they said that they usually keep them overnight for observation... I've never heard of that with a male animal. Has anyone else?

My vet only keeps spays overnight... the neuters are so quick and they really have very little risk of complications.

I think it's pretty unusual - I personally would never leave a cat overnight after a neuter unless there was something else going on that warranted hospitalization.

Schrodinger sounds like quite the character - any updated pics of him?

No need to keep neuters overnight that I know of

Interesting.. Just had Elsa Spayed, and they did not keep her overnight.. I guess if anything were to happen that there would be someone there to take care of it then, but that is a new on one me...

On another note, how come it is called fixed.... Should it not really be called broken, because they were working and now they are not... :):):rolleyes::devil::devil:

My vet keeps spays overnight, it's more invasive surgery than a neuter. The reason being that they keep the cat on a fentanyl drip to prevent any discomfort... and they have an overnight tech observing them for any issues all that night.

Bahahahahahaha! We took video of before and after Jengo was a working male for that reason. My bf went with me and cringed the whole they talked about the neuter. I just didn't want to be hated for the rest of my life for taking his manhood. He has since discovered food and it's healing qualities ;)

I've never heard of a neuter being held over night. Poor baby girls and the spay - one of the reasons we've stick with males. It seems much easier, I'd be so sad to leave a little one overnight! I had a friend who had to spay her cat twice, I just couldn't imagine. Poor thing.

Baghira just got neutered last week. I had to bring him there at 8 am and pick him up later at 5 pm. And I thought that was long tri confused:. The pain meds the doc gave him there he said should last for 2 days. Lets just say he looked pretty stoned the first day and walked like a drunk......front legs going foward and the back kind of wondered from side to side. The funny thing was he still wanted to play, but couldn´t see the string he wanted to play with tri big grin:.
Now this is in Germany so could be a little different then the States ;)
