It has been a while since I have posted an update on Elsa... But she is doing great... Today is our 9th Anniversary and I just cannot believe how the time has flown by... She is in Great Health and Quite Frisky. Very Active. At Bed time, she knows she has to go to bed when I do.. However, she gets up once my feet are under the covers... She knows at that point I won't come after her... Within about 30 minutes to an hour, she will come back to bed and take up her spot (On her original Kitten Blankets).

A long time ago.. I had problems with Elsa getting up on the kitchen counters... I found a very simple and easy solution that fixed the problem 100% and she does not get on the Kitchen Counter anymore... I got her a Stool to sit on to where she can see everything. Now when I am cooking she sits on the stool and watches me and does not even try to get on the counter any longer...

Stool.jpg

Just a heads up if you visit my house... DON'T SIT ON HER STOOL!... Unless you like to be smacked.... Ask my Niece who tried it and got smacked 2 times for it... :) - If you do not believe me, Just ask my Niece :)

As everyone knows, she loves to travel on long trips, but we have not gone anywhere in a couple of years since my mom passed a couple years ago, However I do have an Airplane now, There is plenty of room for her... But I am not sure she will appreciate Air Travel as much as Car Travel, even though she did fly from Chicago to Memphis, but she was just a baby then... I plan to take her up at some time just to see how she does.. Setup for a local flight, not a long distance flight!

At dinner time she knows that she sits on the Stool and wait for me to pick up her can of food. I then show it to her and if she approves of it, se will rub it with the side of her face and look up at me... If she does not want that flavor, I put it back pick up another one for her... So far, she has only rejected 2 cans in the 9 years we have been together...

With Today being our 9th Anniversary, I got her a Toy Bird in a Bird Cage that is magnetic driven and she seems to really like it.

She can be quite a Ham sometimes... LOL.. Here are some pictures of her playing around while I am trying to put her Electronic Bird together.

She can also be somewhat of a Ham in the Mirror... She looks dead serious with a Wall Mounted Tri-Fold-Mirror!

Elsa is now 9 Years Old and she is doing great... She acts more like she is 2 or 3, She follows me everywhere... Sometimes I can feel her feet hitting my shins she follows me so close and have her to run into me when I come to a quick stop...

Yes.. I know she is spoiled... But I want it that way... When I am home, she is never more than a few footsteps behind!

Happy anniversary to you and Elsa! That bird in a cage looks pretty fun, but I wonder how long it's going to last. If that wasn't my household I don't think it would last more than 10 minutes.
Nice plane by the way! I look forward to hearing how Elsa does in her maiden voyage :giggle:

I will let you know how it goes, but it will be a while before she goes flying.... This morning when I got up... In regards to her Toys... She really takes care of them... She does chew on them occasionally, but she still has it in decent shape after 9 years and is her favorite. The Bird Cage she picked it up and moved it to the Bedroom, but is still in good order. there is a button on the bottom of it and there is an electronic coil that makes the bird move around and keeps it steady... She really loves it. It runs off of 2 AA Batteries... I was surprised to see her pick it up and bring it to the bedroom, but she did not put it on our bed as that is where most of her toys end up... :) - Her favorite is a Real Mouse, but we have not had one in the house for a very long time.... Once I set one free, I guess he told the mouse community that this house is not mouse friendly..

BTW, just a side note.. you can buy replacement Birds for the Bird Cage... I found this one at Menards!

What can you say about Bella ?? What a Girl !!! Happy anniversary guys, hoping many more to come. Nice plane John, I'm sure Bella would enjoy it, Vito enjoys going out in the van, I know, not quite the same but savannahs definitely like getting out and about. You'll soon have a flying jacket made for Her Highness

Lucky you and Elsa! You each make the day for each other. I remember meeting her in your car. She loves a good ride.
About you taking her flying.....(here comes the buzz kill). As you know I once had a C172. She will not like flying, Single engine aircraft are far too noisy. Problably will bother her hearing as cats are far more senesitive to sound than humans. I don't see her wearing a custom Dave Clark headset, though that would be precious if you could. Give Aunt Elsa a hug from her nephew and niece.

Noise is a BIg Concern, but I a'm bit worried about the noise level as much as Tubulent or Choppy Air.... Cats like to have a firm grip with their paws, and unless the air is very smooth that day, that could be an issue as well....

Her 1st trip will be just a short trip, 15 or 20 minutes unless she really loves it and that will determine the future of her flying .... She does love to look at scenery and there is a large shelf in the back she can stretch out on and see for many many miles.... Her first trip I will choose a smoth day and rely on the Auto Pilot as much as possible for a smoother, fligtht... On a smooth day that should make a difference.

So many said that she would never take for ridding in the car, but once I set the Cruise control she loved it and she enjoyed being at my mom's, she loved getting out to walk around (but she doesn;t like Rest Stops.... Smell of too many dogs), I have a friend who takes his dog flyinng and the dog loves it... Does not seem to bother his ears, but not all pets are created equal... Time will tell, and I will report back wtih pictures when her flying time comes.

custom Dave Clark headset,
LOL - I was thinking about how to get her some hearing protection... I think it is pretty safe to say that she would not tolerate Cotton or the Traditional plug in the Ears Hearing Protection.. LOL...

Will see how it goes. I was thinking about some kind of Hearting protection... LOL, I goggled it and there is such a thing, but designed for Dogs...

Anyone got a Stop Watch to see how long she would wear it....

Happy anniversary!

I'm thinking if Elsa is an adventurous personality she might well learn to love flying in the plane. I do know of other Savannahs that seem to quite enjoy that experience (distinct from the experience of being crammed in a carrier and squeezed under the seat of a plane). Let us know how it goes! Good luck with getting her to wear ear protection though!

Not surprised to hear that the stool works for Elsa. I have a small cat tree at the end of our kitchen island for the same reason. They know that they are allowed to perch there and observe. While some are brats and keep trying if the rules have changed, they usually only need to be reminded once. Mostly they just want to be nosy and supervise whatever I am doing

I never thought of using a small Cat Tree, but they are shorter than the Stool is and I doubt she could see over the counter where she gets curious... She does love her short cat Trees.. She likes to lay in them by the door and watch her Wild Friends come by and Her Arch Enemy Neighborhood Cat who comes by to challenger her.. LOL It is funny to watch them at the door, one on one side, one on the other.... Elsa just sits there and watches as the other cat (obviously not as smart, slams himself up against the glass!
