My cat eats only wetfood and refuses dry food

Felix loves his wetfood but he never eats Dry food. The doctor said that he needs to have some dry food to help with his teeth help but he refuses to eat it. Any ideas on how to get him to eat some dry food?

Kibble does not clean teeth... what can really help clean is feeding raw meaty bones that the cat gnaws on and the bone IS thought to do some work cleaning the teeth properly...

I think your cat eating wet food is a better plan, most vets nowadays prefer a canned diet as water intake is so important in your cat's long-term health.

Nathan,
I cut up raw chicken or turkey for my cats, including bones. The vet said at the last apt that Calvin, had excellent gums/ teeth. The only issue has been he likes to hide the raw bits under the covers and in a back closet. So, I've learned to close the bedroom door. ;-)

I am lucky, my vet is a raw advocate and anti kibble. When not traveling, I can work from home 98% of the time so it affords me the ability to put raw down at frequent intervals as the kitten eats non stop! I am a little concerned as I have a negotiations in Philly coming up, and immediately after, a site visit in Buffalo for a few days in Oct. my poor husband, who has to hold down the fort with children and animals, may need to add coming home for lunch to his schedule to feed the baby cat!

I agree with the above and our vet asked us what we were doing for dental care upon Chongo's last visit because his teeth were so sparkly clean. Nothing more than a raw diet and unfortunately we haven't had success with meaty bones as he just wants to taunt the other cats with them. Tried chaining them down as I believe Brigitte suggested, and he just used them as bait to tangle with the other cats.

He does eat a small bit of kibble, but only from a puzzle feeder in limited quantities. Pretty sure it doesn't promote dental hygiene as he just swallows them whole.

There are definitely some decent oral treats out there if you don't want to do the raw thing, or you could just give him a chicken wing section once or twice a week and that should keep his toofers in good shape.

What about Greenies? Calyx also only eats canned and raw but he will eat Greenies. Otherwise, he is not much of a treat fan.

Be thankful that you're lucky to have a cat that is not addicted to dry food and see if he'll do raw.
