Raw Diet / Canned Foods / Dry Food Combinations?

Saffron

Savannah Kitten
I will be receiving Saffron today and the breeder is currently giving him Zupreem's Feline Diet mixed with 9Lives Super Supper or Beef four times a day and leaves out Iams dry food out all day. Opinions on that? I know not to change anything four about 4 weeks then 10% each day if I do but just wondering..

What are some successful food combinations that you use daily? (it would be fantastic if I would not have to order food online either but I realize that's not ideal)

Thanks!

I've used Zupreem in the past and I think they've actually improved it. I'm not terribly impressed with the 9 lives or Iams though... 9 lives uses a lot of by-products and Iams uses a lot of corn and grains.

I feed raw. But if it's not feasable, I'd suggest picking a wet food that has no/minimal amounts of grains/carbs/fruits/veggies.

Cats have a low thirst drive, and don't drink as much as they need to, even if you leave water out for them all over the house, and if you feed dry they're not getting as much water as they should be. So wet food is better. Don't believe the talk that dry food is good for their teeth, most cats just swallow the kibble whole, their teeth and jaws weren't designed to crush kibble.

Here's my feeding routine, it's probably not perfect, but seems to be working well for me. I used to leave kibble out for Shelby to eat throughout the day. But my other cat Chloe (non SV) who's 10 years old started getting too fat. So I had to modify the kibble routine so it would work for both of them. Hopefully this is a good routine. Shelby finishes his food faster than Chloe, so he'll often go and "share" her food when he's done with his own, which I'm ok with as long as she gets enough, she's too fat anyway lol The routine below is only his food and does not include what I give Chloe. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm certainly open to them if they feel he's getting too much or too little food, but he seems to be growing like a weed, so I think it's working pretty well.

Breakfast
I use Instinct canned wet food (I vary the different flavors each time I open a new can) I cut it into 1/8ths and give Shelby 2 of them along with two tablespoons of kibble (mixture between Instinct kibble and Taste Of The Wild Kibble) every morning before I leave for work.

When I get home from work
I give 2 teaspoons of kibble (if he eats it fast, I give him 1 or 2 more)

Dinner
Same routine as Breakfast

*Every Third Day
I feed him 1 nugget of Primal Frozen Raw food with dinner

Treats
Shelby's favorite treats are Greenies. I have 2 different flavors and vary them. I give him probably 4-6 treats a day and use them as aids in training new tricks, sometimes as rewards or just because he's sitting there looking cute. I also use Pounce moist treats as a means to teach him how to walk on his leash, but I'm not giving him the Pounce treats too often as I feel they're probably not as healthy as the Greenies, but he sure does like them.

Here is the food I am feeding.
