Red Savannah?

Today a close up picture was taken of Keljin's back to show off his spots, and.. there was a spot of blood red in his fur. I started crazily sifting through his fur to see if there was any injury, but he was not acting in pain when I touched the location, nor could I find any incision on his skin anywhere! So hurriedly I ran up the stairs to go take Winry out and search her entire body to see if she had gotten hurt and bled on his fur while wrestling. Her fur is white so blood would have been easily noticed, but again there were no injuries to be found..

And then it hit me.. I had just died my hair that same morning.. RED! I sniffed his back and sure enough it wreaked of chemicals! I don't think he licked any of it, as he is showing no signs of sickness (either neurological or behavior, or poop or anything out of normal) So I gave him a mini bath in the sink lol. He is nice and clean now, and he didn't even give me a fight. he was happily playing with the water from the faucet and didn't give me any struggle to jump down as I was scrubbing his back. What a good boy :) Silly story and a big mommy oops..

I will of course continue monitoring him closely in case any signs come up if by chance he ingested it, I am thinking he avoided cleaning it because it smelled funny? Or maybe he didn't notice. Honestly I couldn't smell the chemicals unless I buried my nose deep into his fur. And he usually does not clean himself until after dinner, before bed time. It was a really small drop, about the size of a grain of rice. (also that's how I didn't see the splotch until it was zoomed in on camera)

I'm sure he will be fine - cats are pretty resilient and doesn't sound like he ingested any...

I agree, he should be fine... the amount sounds pretty small and you've cleaned it well now :)

I understand the panic though... yesterday I found this in our bedroom and it freaked me out! I think it is from Nina although she's not limping or anything she won't let me near her paws yet... but I checked Baz and Georgie and Bobo and it's not theirs! The others wouldn't be large enough for it to be from them...

I am blaming Bobo...recently he's become super-aggressive with the others, I'm not sure what is going on with him. Every evening he has been going after Nina, and I hear horrible noises and find him cornering her and he's all fluffed up and posturing. Nina is such a wimp all she does is scream and cower, poor baby :-( The recently it's started to be Baz he's after and the same thing happening. If I hear kitty screams I yell "Bobo, stop it" and generally see him trotting off all fluffy and happy with his bad self. And then an hour later they will ALL be curled up on the bed together as if nothing happened. So it's not causing permanent disruption to their relationships but there's something going on that I haven't figured out yet.

But I think maybe Bobo went for Nina and she caught her nail trying to run from him and being in a panic she probably ripped it out to escape him....

I've put fresh Feliway diffusers all over the house hoping that will have some impact...

Awww...poor Nina...I wonder what is going on with Bobo? Sometimes I just cannot figure them all out ;)And I suppose they feel the same way about us...do you think a pheromone collar would help?

Could it be a hormonal thing as far as Nina goes? I'm sure you have thought of these issues, I am just thinking out loud...

I might suspect hormones with Nina but why start going after Baz then? In terms of personalities it is like he is targeting those that don't tend to fight back. Missy would give it back to him quick as anything, she rarely fights with anyone but it is because everyone knows she will react. Coco the same... everyone respects crazy lil Coco... and George...well he's George!

You're right, Paige, I should try putting a collar on Bobo directly and see if it helps him...

Yes, that makes sense as far as Bobo attacking those that will not fight back. I noticed Cisco is doing the same thing to poor Taj :( Cornered him today and I heard Taj squealing...Cisco used to be afraid of his own shadow - that is until the savannahs arrived...now he is a brat - but only to Taj...he worships Zuri ;)

Ouch, wow, hope who ever this happened to is OK. Please let us know if they are OK.

B, maybe you should share the pics of when one of your kitties got all purple from your hair dye! Which one was that?
