Strange behavior

Savannah Kitten
Hi all

So I have a 3 year old F5 male Savannah that has been fixed since he was 8 months old. We were puppy sitting for my sister, she had a 12 week old lab cross. Our Savannah Sawyer started to bite the puppy on the back of the neck making weird meowing noises and trying to mount the puppy. Thought it was weird but didn't think much of it. However we recently got our own puppy a male boxer cross who is 12 weeks old and Sawyer has started the behavior with our puppy now( when puppy is sleeping) . Anyone else experience this, I tried to post a video but it wouldn't work. I seem to have a very confused kitty my hands lol

People usually assume that the biting the neck and mounting behavior is sexual only, but it is also a dominance behavior. Your cat is telling the puppy who is boss while he can!

Ok glad to hear, I have never had a cat do this before and have had both cats and dogs together, so it kind of threw me off lol... Glad to hear its just a dominant thing.

Agree that this is a behavior to exert dominance - Sawyer wants to make sure the puppy knows who's boss in this household!
