Thinking about getting a serval?

I have been thinking.... i believe that we should have a topic on this forum that is serval related. There are many people who are captivated by the savannah cat ( i mean who couldnt?!) Then some people ( along with myself) have asked the question, "should i consider getting a serval?" We all see photos of servals with familes and they look beyond happy and look like they make fantastic pets. What i am asking for out of this topic is that i hope to discover actual personal expirences with these cats. I think the whole "banning dangerous animals" has sparked this convo for me. I have always been interested in getting a serval, i am not going to lie, We spoke to a breeder for a fair amount of time, we thought we had everything planned out, but little did we realize we were acting out of impulsiveness. I still want a serval, based on what i know, but what i know is i can not have one at the current moment. (fingers crossed pa will not go through with the banning :( )

So i guess pretty much all i would like out of this is to hear and to educate others with people's experience owning these gorgeous elegant cats that are the foundation to the breed we live with, slave with, and couldn't live without....

feel free to share ANYTHING about anything serval related :)

Marissa, the ban for servals in PA will go through...they have not been able to stop it.

As for serval experience, I don't own one and while the serval is the foundation for the breed and I am totally in love with this magnificent cat, I am not sure this is the right time or place to have this discussion.

My own video (well our video, I should have said) is what actually made me fall totally in love with the serval...but for now, until the ban on Servals continues to lurk on the forefront in Ohio, I do not want to do or say anything to jeopardize our efforts. Often people mean well, but say the wrong thing, which can be misinterpreted.

I appreciate your request and effort in this matter, but let's hold off on creating a forum on this topic.

hey sounds totally good to me, we can hold off. i kinda figured since that if people were googling owning a serval, that they may come across it, just food for though in my attempt to help. no feelings hurt here :) just super bored and thinking...ha
