Treat Brand Recommendations

With the new arrival on the way, it's time to start stocking up on treats again. I was wondering what brands folks here preferred / would recommend.

We used to do a combination of wellness and natures variety freeze dried raw, but pet stores nearby dont seem to carry wellness anymore and the NV is the same stuff in our shorthair's normal kibble, so I wanted to change it up a bit.

Right now the most appealing thing to me on store shelves is PureBites, thinking of doing a rotation of salmon, chicken, and turkey. Has anyone used this brand before?

Astral, my girls LOVE Purebites. The chicken. I buy the ones packaged for dogs. You get more for the money. The bits are bigger and you have to break or cut them up for the cats, but they are THE SAME TREAT. Pure frreze dried white meat chicken. I get them from Chewy.com, but my local Petsmart carries them too. I get the larger doggie bag.

Really, with treats, I think you can rotate and try a little bit of everything. The point is-- it's a treat. So you can do brands you might not feed normally with the mantra that this is a treat and a treat only.

We try all types of treats. The freeze dried chicken seems to tend to be the biggest hit around here though.

Whole Life treats - salmon and chicken are like kitty crack! I have found they are the favorites, by far!

any type of dehydrated "jerky" type treat goes over well with the boys although Jengo is a lover of all things bad (like his mommy) so I am a bad momma and do give them pounce or Whisker lickens.' For a healthier choice they do like Greenies dental treats too.

The freeze dried really does seem to be the favorite treats. Halo Liv a Littles is also popular. I will also give a Stella & Chewys chunk out of the bag on occasion as a treat which the cats go bonkers for.

Thanks for the recommendations all! We went ahead and picked up the purebites to give it a test run with our DSH. The smell of the salmon was enough to lure her upstairs but she only sniffed and licked at it so far. Guess I'll give it a bit for her to warm up to them or try it without added water before I move on to other brands!

Mine are nuts for the freeze dried as well. We have bought Halo Liv a littles, Fresh is Best, Pure bites and Whole Life. All have been hits. They particularly like the duck hearts (Fresh is Best) and the chicken (all brands). The salmon is a hit but stinks to high heaven. Only Jammu likes the shrimp. I buy the Whole Life chicken in the 10 oz value pack via Amazon and sprinkle crumbs on their morning raw. The only one that was so-so for us was the Fresh is Best turkey giblet rounds - they are really crumbly and catch in the throat.

Catmandoo has a great freeze dried chicken also. It is made/processed in the USA (not all products are).

Yes, I definitely look for made in USA. The only one that I feed that is not is the Pure Bites Shrimp. I have not been able to locate freeze dried shrimp from the US.
