Why Savannah Cat Chat?

There are many Facebook (FB) Groups that have been created to discuss our great Savannah cats, but there has only been one forum (bulletin board), which no longer exists. A forum is different from FB in that you can create a separate thread for each topic you want to discuss, and you can participate in as many or as few of the topics as you wish. Because each topic has its own area you can avoid being inundated with topics you are not interested in. In addition, rather than having to search the voluminous and cumbersome archives for old discussions to research a previous subject such as is necessary in the Yahoo Groups format, with a forum everything can be found right in one place and the information is readily available.

For this reason, Savannah Cat Chat has been created. It is a forum that has been designed with the most up-to-date programming to create a truly interactive community environment. It has been created for pet owners, breeders, exhibitors, and anyone who wants to learn more about our amazing Savannah cat breed. Not only can you interact with the Savannah cat community here, it will allow you to upload files, pictures, and videos for everyone to enjoy.

To join all you need to do is to click the ‘Sign Up Now’ button. Once you have been approved you can start reading and posting immediately. When you visit the forum you will see that several different areas have already been created in order to better organize the site. A great place to start is with Introductions so that we can all meet and learn more about each other. If you want to start a new topic simply choose which area is best suited for your post then the forum to start a new thread. If you have any questions or difficulty navigating the site you can ask for advice under Site Suggestions and Issues or contact one of the moderators through the link at the bottom of the page.

The Savannah Cat Chat Community is a one-stop place for you to meet new people and share your love of Savannahs with like minded individuals, as well as a place to find answers to all of your Savannah questions.

We welcome your feedback and suggestions - please post to the Site Suggestions and Issues forum.

I like seeing the help given to owners with problems or just wanting good advice for their special cats. I like how the members are respectful, knowledgeable, and truly engaged in the Savannah community. Many of us feel better knowing we are not alone with the ways these cats change our lives for the better. (But we go kicking and screaming sometimes!)

There is a TON of information here, things that you would probably have to do 100 web searches for and sift through an unimaginable number of sites to gather. Having such an active and very diverse community of people here is one of the forum's greatest assets.

I would also suggest that there is great benefit that reaches beyond the breed itself. Other forums dealing with cats that I bump into on occasion often have poor information, misguided suggestions and poor remedy for health or behavior issues. What you find here is people who have a great deal of passion for their pets, well read, well studied and invested in providing the best care for their cats.

Neither of my older DSHs would be in the health they are in today if it wasn't for this forum, and I can't even begin to list all the whacky solutions I received from others on different forums.

So far in the year I've been here the forum has saved the life of my big boy Kebu, provided comfort for our girl Pixie, compassion when Chongo was in need of convalescing and helped define the role a new kitten would play in the mix. All of them are extremely healthy, confident and find the space to be who they are as a result of the advice on this forum.

Can't say thanks enough!

It was actually because of this forum that I decided to be owned by a Savannah cat. It took me a few years before I decided the Savannah was for me. And it was this group that answered my many questions (I believe very strongly that pet adoption is for life so I wanted to be 100% sure that I would make a good SV parent) and also celebrated with me when I finally decided to bring one home. In addition, I am very obsessive about my little Whiskey and I feel I can come here to brag on her without people thinking I'm strange because the people here have the same passion about their Savannahs that I do.
