Becoming a therapy cat questions

Hello,

I was not certain which category to post this under, I hope this one will be ok.
My 2.5 yr old Sphinx Bali is the sweetest and most human oriented of my menagerie. She loves to be petted and given attention.
I would like to make her a therapy cat and take her to nursing homes ect... Does anyone know how to certify your pet or what the process is? And from my understanding therapy pets are paid to visit those in need? Is this a misconception?
I know that Bali would just love to visit and get some extra love, I would enjoy seeing her make people happy.

Our F5 SBT boy, diablo, is a certified therapy pet.

We did our certification through the Monmouth county SPCA in NJ.

We go primarily to nursing homes, and D cheers people up. Pm me if you have questions; to the best of my knowledge, cat therapy programs seem a lot fewer and far between than dog therapy programs.
