Can someone answer this?

my wheaten and the Savannah have a love hate relationship. I really think they respect each other, but my wheaten takes up for the little Manx when the Savannah pins her down. Other than that they really don’t have a problem. But the correlation between the positioning of the litter box being in the laundry room was the same scenario in our previous home, but I never thought it to be an issue. But having said that I am going to get 2 more litter boxes and strategically place them and see how it goes.

children aren’t this complicated

thanks again!!!
I beg to differ, having 4 and 7 year old human children along with the four Savannahs, one Peterbald and one Doberman puppy. The four year old human trumps any Savannah I have ever lived with!

I’m a little confused with your comment, do you mean that all of the animals that you have are easier to live with than your four year old? And OMG, you have four Savannahs?

Yes, I would say that all my critters are easier than my 4 year old, he's a level more than most kids! And yes, we have four Savannahs down from five since our big black boy Baz left us ... it's a big house and crazy too!

There is the possibility that either the dog or the other cat has somehow caused stress to the F1 while she is either using the litter box or has prevented her from using the litter box, particularly since you mentioned you have two alpha personalities in the house. It sounds as though the F1 is using displaced aggression toward the Manx. Having the dog intervene sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

My F1 male prevented one of my F2s from getting to the litter box to the point he caused the F2 to develop chronic urinary disease which needed emergency care and surgery.

To fix the situation, I consulted an animal behaviorist who recommended more litter boxes, more individual play time and individual attention for each cat, addition of even more perches, and giving the F2 his own private space when needed. In addition I put the F1 on Prozac which led to a huge improvement in his aggressive attitude toward the F2.

Your F1 is telling you she is unhappy and the challenge for you is to figure out why and how to fix it. If we could read their minds, it would be much easier. You might try giving the F1 her own space for a few hours each day with a litter box, her own toys, water & food. I never leave my F2 out in the house when I'm not home. Either he or the F1 are put in a room away from each other when I'm gone. That way, I know there isn't any territorial issues happening when I'm not there to intervene.

I highly recommend doing a zoom consult with Marilyn Krieger, the cat coach, to get insight into and recommendation for resolving the problematic issue of two alpha personalities sharing a house. https://www.thecatcoach.com/

Good luck and let us know how things progress.

great advice! your situation demonstrates so clearly how much interactions with other pets can affect a given sensitive personality of cat!

I feel for you. Thank God we don't have that problem although we do have a bit of a king of the hill going on. We have our very typie f3 Jax ,, a vert small junkyard calico and Duke our 130 pound German shepherd. Jax will torment Zoey the little calico and Duke will run between them. It's really funny and don't worry folks,,,he's the most docile animal I've ever had. Jax loves the heck out of him. It's funny to watch Jax rubbing all under and up in Duke's face and Duke just standing there looking at me like "does he really "? Any way,,,,my point,,,lately Jax has been standing under my wife's recliner legs when she's reclined pussy footing his back feet like he's going to mark but doesn't! He never has since we've had him but it sure puts a start in us! Lol!

Would love to see some photos of Jax, how old is he now ? It sounds like he likes to keep you on your toes , re the pretend marking, our Vito does this but has never ever sprayed once, he watches me as he does it, as if he's saying " I could if I wanted too" :)

He's about a month shy of 7. Long and lanky. Weighs just shy of 30 pounds,,that is if we can get him on a scale. He won't allow any of us to pick him up and only gets on my wife's lap. He's a weirdo! He's just started letting me pet him in the last couple years. Loves the dog though! Lol

Wow, he is so big, and such a bonnie lad, your shepherd is beautiful, it's wonderful that they all get on so well, thanks for the brilliant photos. Our Franco is the biggest here at 6.5kg he's an f5, very friendly and loving but doesn't like being picked up either, though he will lie beside you and follow you everywhere, the other two Vito and Lola love to be picked up. Mind you Jax being 30lbs I wouldn't mind too much about not picking him up too often :)
