F2 Neuter Question

My 7 month old F2 is scheduled for his Neuter next week....Ugh...

I recall reading the F2's have a longer digestive tact, similar to wild cats. That said, the normal lead time not to feed a cat prior to neuter is 12 hours. My question is....

Should the F2 be given more time to have an empty stomach for the Neuter to lessen the risk of throwing up undigested food into his lungs?

All cats, domestic and wild, have a relatively short digestive tract evolved specifically for a carnivore diet. I'd be interested in seeing the piece you read regarding longer digestive tracts in F2s. All of my SVs did a 12 hr fast prior to neuter with no adverse consequence. I have an F1, 2 F2s, and an F6

My understanding is the same as Deborah's - cats (wild and domestic) have short digestive tracts. I think a 12 hour fast prior to a neuter is barbaric and completely unnecessary, but that's just me. I have one vet who recommends 8 hrs and I've never had an issue.

vet told me midnight....bringing him in @ 9. I am telling them to keep the anesthesia to a minimum, but I'm sure they will do whatever they do for an 18 lb kitten
