I have just loved Savannah cats for years and years and am so excited to say that we recently added a beautiful F5 boy (Marius or Marty for short) to our family. He is amazing and sweet and is a perfect fit for our household.

I am very happy to have found this board and look forward to reading your posts and sharing with all of you.

Hi Sharra13. Welcome to the forum. You are in for quite the adventure! And it looks like Marius has already begun the process of beguiling you with those eyes! He is a cutie for sure. Love the B&W shot - so very artistic.

Welcome to the forum! I hope you are aware that Savannahs are illegal in San Antonio and Animal Control has made it very clear that if they know you have a Savannah they will confiscate it and euthanize it - please keep your baby safe!

We do not live inside San Antonio city limits. San Antonio is just our closest city. Thank you for your concern.

Unfortunately, it is not the city of San Antonio but Bexar County that bans Savannahs. The good news is that there is currently legislation in the works at the state level to remove the serval (and its hybrids) from the Dangerous Wild Animal list, in fact there is a meeting regarding this bill on Monday, here is the info:

May 19 - Texas DWA ZAA Exemption (SB 987) Public Hearing
Committee: House Culture, Recreation and Tourism
Time: 8:00 am, Room: E1.010

Unfortunately, even if the state of TX changes its law, it will not effect the individual counties that have already banned or restricted Savannahs, but it will pave the way to get those laws changed as well, as long as there are people willing to put in the work to get it done!
