I totally understand the worry when they don't seem to be eating as much as it seems they should! I have noticed with HB, he seems to be more comfortable eating in a high place where he feels safer... If he walks away after a couple bites from a dish on the floor, he will often lick the plate clean if I move it up to where he is sitting on a cat shelf.
Goodness he sounds so like Vito, he does the exact same, he's usually fed on the work top but more often than not he will spring up onto one of the high kitchen cupboards and wait for me to ferry his food up to him, Mmmmn who's the little boss in this house:giggle:

Bella is 180º from that. She likes the floor on the door mat.
If you give her the food on the kitchen floor that is a vinyl type she will pick it up and head for anyplace
that is carpet and far away. If you put her dish on the door mat she is happy to pull it out onto the mar
and eat it. Then when it comes to any kibble she will eat it where ever you place her dish.
