Hamster Style Water Bottle

Just wanted to share this as our cats love it.

Our boys have full time access to an open door condo crate and I put this water bottle in there so we didn't have to deal with them spilling water all over the place. Primarily the crate just serves as an occasional lock up when they are too persistent about getting in the way of food prep. It turns out they really like it, sometimes for a drink and sometimes for entertainment while it limits the extent of the clean up. Additionally, for those days when they have totally splashed out all their water bowls I know they have a place to get a drink.

Here's Dooley bellying up to the bar. Oh, and I think I'm going to mount the bottle on the outside of the crate so they aren't perched on top of it while messing around.

Did you have to show them how to use it or did they figure it out on their own? I got one but wasn't sure how to introduce it. Thx!!

I have started cats/kittens out on a bottle by positioning it over a bowl of water. As they drink from the water bowl they knock the spout of the water bottle allowing a few drops of water out, which helps them learn what it is for. Most of the time this will eventually teach them how to get the water out of the bottle.

Dino saw the first drop of water come out of it, then game on.

Nice thing is it's glass so you can easily sanitize it. Stainless steel spout makes it pretty much SV proof, at least as far as sinking there teeth into it.
