It as been a very long time since this has been discussed, but with Christmas coming and of course our cats are valued participants in our Christmas;s...
A long time ago when Elsa was a Kitten and I did not know better, but she got a hold of a Silica Gel Pack and Ate Most of it.... I rushed her to the Vet and they did all the could do for her.... She was in incredible bad shape and they said as an Absolute: "She WILL NOT make it through the Night and we Recommend Putting her Down".... They pumped all they could get out of her and said there was nothing else they could do. I could not put her down and GLAD I didn't. I could not do that... I took her to an emergency vet to stay the night and with the Help of Prayer (With nothing else left to do) about 2 am she was up and around...
I bring this up, as during Christmas, those "Silica Gel" packs show up in many, many different packages... If you see one... Grab it and get rid of it... If you cat gets it, it will be very high Vet Bills with a good chance of no survival.... and that is the last thing we want... Especially in middle of Christmas... Please watch out for these little packs and grab them up and put them in a location where you cat cannot get to them.
I cannot think of a worse place to end Christmas than being at the Vet!, please be diligent with these... When I find one, I stop immediately everything I am doing, and put it in a lidded Trash Can! The issue with the packs is that they are to collect moisture to product your new electronics during shipping and storage... They dehydrate your TV, DVD, COMPUTER during shipping... It will do the same to your pet!
Sorry for the Rant.... But I really do not want to see a similar story. There are a few here who helped me get through that! Thanks to all of you who helped and may everyone have a Very Merry Christmas!
