Askari is a stunning boy!

As for the castration - if you perform late castration (after he has started to develop sexually) it will assure that the growth plates have closed since it is the release of those hormones that triggers their closing. Cats that are neutered early (around 3-4 months before they start to produce testosterone and other hormones that come with maturity) may continue to grow for a longer period of time because they will never produce those hormones that trigger the closing of the growth plates.

Thanks for the info Patti, I will be taking Askari to the vets in a few weeks to be castrated he will be approx 6 months so from your advice Askari has probably already started producing the hormones.

Handsome boy! Love those ears

Hello All
Update with my F4 male Askari
He is just over 12 months old now and his weight has been up and down over past 2 months usually around 11-13lbs.
Last month he had a period of recurrent infection of his lower jaw and lips which seems to have settled after treatment with antibiotics.
He is eating well but not really adding much weight, his height is is approx 13 inches tall and 19 inches length nose to body excluding tail.
I am hoping he will grow a little more over next few months but confident that he will fill out although as stated his weight seems to fluctuate.
