Hello from Oregon - USA

My husband and I are very excited to be joining the world of Savannah owners! We will get our F2 male the end of May! (That's the plan, human baby due mid-May!)
We do not have "in-home" experience with SV but did have a 40lb 100% Canada Lynx. She was brought into our home at 13 days and we miss her dearly! We're finally ready to add another exotic cat. :) Fierca (our lynx) was quite the character and we learned a lot about being owned by a cat. Our home was immaculately clean with no house plants or knickknacks. We rarely took vacations and never wore fluffy slippers. (LOL)
We live in the woods of gorgeous Oregon state! We have one Border Collie whom absolutely adored Fierca. She was very much in love with him and they would play until they both passed out panting.
This will be quite a journey and we're blessed to have a fantastic breeder and have this forum for help! We have an excellent vet that specializes in exotic cats and high standards of nutrition. Feeling blessed to join the SV family!

I'm still learning and haven't figured out how to change my username or avatar pic. Sorry!

Greetings from another Oregonian. I'm in the southern part of the state.

Savannahs are not exotic cats. They are domestic cats. Very important distinction for a very important reason, that being that animal rights groups claim savannahs are exotics and dangerous and should not be bred or kept as pets. These groups are quite active in attempting to ban them as pets and eliminate the breed altogether.

As far as living with a SV, your lynx has prepared you well. Your SV will be intelligent, energetic, inquisitive and highly interactive with your family.

Thanks for the important clarification on my wording. I can see how using the correct word in public, etc would be important!

And you are correct about the breeder being fantastic. I am fortunate to live about 40 min away from Patti. She is an angel. :)

Danielle, to change your avatar, click on your username, or click on the current avatar then on your user name, then click Edit Profile from the menu on the left and you should be able to change the pic from there.

Forums are different, it took me awhile to figure it out as well. Now I always start with New Posts, that way I know I'll never miss anything anyone has to say
