Hello there from sunny Florida ^_^

No, you cannot plan for losing a beloved companion. I have no idea how you help a child of that age to accept loss gracefully (especially as I tend to fall apart badly when I lose a beloved cat), but glad you have him getting grief counseling to help him through this. I'm so sorry about the brain tumor, that must be so hard for you to deal with as parent. I know that sounds weird as it is your son's issue but kids always seem more resilient than the parents... Your son is obviously very lucky to have you, and when he is ready I am sure you will find him the best possible kitty companion!
Thank you so much Bridgitte for your kind words. We try our best even through the hard times. I can't even begin to explain how much my sons condition worries me every day, all I can do is hope for the best and keep him seeing good knowledgeable doctors that can care for him. And keep up my search for the perfect fur baby family member for my family and me.

Praying for your son Natalie. So sorry for your loss. I had 3 older kitties that passed away over the past 5 years. (19, 17 and 16 years old) We know the pain. You will know when you are ready. One door closes & another one opens for another precious kitty that needs a home. 2016 opened our doors. WE Adopted 2 beautiful shelter kitties on New Years and months later we got our F3 Savannah baby girl Sierra. Our home is again filled with fun, love and continuous entertainment.
Welcome to the forum Natalie, you are clearly a soul with a huge heart and any kitty who finds a home with you is obviously blessed! Good luck with your son's upcoming MRI, I pray that all remains stable with him - please keep us posted!

Thank you Val and Patti for you kind words and wishes. I send my condolences to you Val on you kitty family loss, a shared pain to our hearts.
But both of your bright and wonderful words fill me with hope. I'll keep my search up ^_^
