What you guys are saying is what I thought.
Unfortunately it looks like I will need more time than I expected.
Yesterday I went to the CITES office to check the law because I really liked a kitten from U.K. They told me that Savannahs are not allowed in Italy. Then they said many other confused things so not all the doors are shut.
I'm not boring you with the italian legislation but I would like to know if any of you breeders have ever sent a kitten to Italy.

As I read the CITIES info, it looks like they ARE permitted but you need a permit in Italy.
"In general, European countries require a CITES import permit for F1-F4 hybrids, but not for F5 or later generations (F5 and later generations aren't considered hybrids). From F5 and later generations, the original (not copy!) TICA 5 generation pedigree is required as proof that the the cat is 5 generations removed from its wild ancestor. The cat must be microchipped so that the cat and the pedigree can be matched together. "

Well, I don't know, UNLESS it is IMPORTING Savannahs that is resrticted and NOT breeding them locally. Just a guess tho. But my understanding about it all is that F5 or later do NOT require any permits, whereas F4 or earlier DO require a permit. That was in reference to importing though.

The CITES rules you quoted are about international trading. Then, there is an italian law about dangerous species where all the animal that can not be owned are listed. Serval is on the list, maybe F1 but I thought F2s were allowed. I discovered yesterday that there also is a regulation that explains haw to read this law. Here rules seem to be unbelievably strict to the point that savannah are not allowed at all. Bengals are ok from F6 though.
But this is Italy, you may have different answers if you ask different departments.
An example. The breeders I know here in Italy imported three savannahs, about four years, ago from A1savannah in the U.S. Two F2 girls and a F5 stud. The kittens had all the papers they needed, thy passed customs at the international airport of Rome and the local authorities in the area where the breeders live said that everything was ok. BUT, after a while, the exact same authorities sued them for importing dangerous species. Now they are spending a lot of money on lawyers and I hope they will win at the end.
Rafiki, Uraniawild is a very nice italian cattery but I'm sure they breed abroad. They have their own serval and they breed beautiful F1. I contacted them for information about kittens and prices and Simonetta told me they are in Trieste, very very close to Slovenia. I guess that the cattery is there or maybe in Switzerland.
I was asking if someone here ever shipped a kitten to Italy to find out if any of the buyers had some kind of trouble once the kitten arrived.
Savannah breed is something very new and unusual here but I have no doubt that will become very popular.

Sofia, HybridLaw says that F2 or later are okay in Italy - I believe that information was obtained by a breeder in Germany. I haven't, nor do I know of anyone who has ever sent a Savannah to Italy. I will tell you though that A1 Savannahs has been known for shipping Savannahs to illegal parts of the world, as well as falsifying papers, so hearing that they shipped to Italy does not surprise me.
