Yes, I think it is equivalent to us not liking to use a filthy toilet that reeks and hasn't been cleaned... you do need to make sure to completely empty and scrub litterboxes regularly and clean the surrounding areas, just like you would your own bathroom. Litterboxes are the only thing I use bleach on, as it is effective but also can attract some cats to pee where the bleach odor remains.
A good enzyme cleaner is Anti Icky Poo (www.antiickypoo.com ) or Unique Distributors Odor Eliminator. Both are very useful when a cat is not using the litterbox to make sure you get rid of odors.
