Jumping on People?

Hello,

Not-so-little anymore Nala has increasingly began jumping on people. It sort of started by using people as a platform when they're bent over (getting something out of a drawer, putting on socks, whatever), but now she's jumping up at people who are standing, almost always from behind. THis morning she actually leapt from a stool onto my shoulder - which was both alarming, athletically impressive and pretty cute. Buuuuuut, probably something we want to put an end to ;)

Is this a case of a kitten (well, kitten-ish as she's about 8 months old now) looking for more attention? Other than more playtime, is there anything additional we should be doing to curb this behavior? Is it a sign that she doesn't have enough vertical play things as well?
Loki started doing this at about 8 months too and At 9 I'm still trying to either discourage or change the behavior. I thought it was cute until he did it right after I got out of the shower. He slid off and raked my back. I've been unable to stop him so I'm trying to modify the behavior into jumping into my arms when I'm looking. Once he gets on my back he's fine he sits on my shoulder like an 11# parrot. Ladies could wear him like a mink stole since he's so slinky and long.

Dino is still doing this at over two years of age. We are very aware when it might happen, and its nearly always wanting attention or more specifically cucumbers. We do have a crate we can lock him down in which he doesn't mind, in fact staying in there with the door open.

Anyway, I have failed miserably at finding remedy despite being in line with what Patti said.

I get the being aware when it's about to happen Loki's eyes get really big just before he jumps.

Wanting attention or a cucumber?! It would be nice to divert Rafiki's ill-timed attention craving with a cucumber!

I know right! If only it was that easy!
John, D is 5. He has been doing this, on and off, for 5 years now. I have not discovered this metaphorical cucumber you speak of yet.
