Kitten feeding help.

Okay ladies. Can someone please tell me how often to feed my kitten? Also how much at each sitting?

Nikita and the new kitten are for the most part getting along well. Feeding is a bit of a challenge. I get so many different opinions , I'm a bit confused.. Just so you know the kitten is 12weeks old..

Also is it normal that my two cats have the worst gas I have ever had to smell in my life?

Not that this a fun subject but I have walked in my home and felt like a canary in a coal mine. Especially the kitten. She will walk by, give me the cutest look ever and suddenly I'm in need of a hazmat suit. Lol

How does something that cute smell so poorly? I'm feeding her blue buffalo and wellness kitten food. Occasionly she has Weruva which claims its all life stages. Or is it like a human baby when going from formula to regular food?

Thanks,

Melissa
Feed as much as the kitten will eat and I suggest leaving the dry down all the time. Cats in my HO will not overeat. Never restrict the amounts given to a growing cat. Mine have never been rationed and we do not have but one little tubby(a spayed lazy girl) ;>) LOL Bless my baby girl's little fat rolls;>)

LOL. Well, if we start from the supposition that their natural food (mice, rodents, birds, and the occasional reptile) are the only perfect food for obligate carnivores, then any food other than those could cause problems. The more additives and the more a food is processed, the more chances are that a cat will react negatively to something in it.

Weruva is a good food as commerical foods go. Those additives are just something that carnivores haven't evolved to digest appropriately. Have you seen the commercial food sticky I posted in the diet section? It provides some other choices you can try.

Have you've ever tried Feline Pride? It's supposedly frozen raw food. I've been wanting to try it. The trouble is that it's not cheap. God forbid I find myself in a financial place where I can no longer afford it and then have to go back.

I often give Nikita raw chicken, duck and rabbit that I buy from the butcher when I'm cooking a meal. I will cut off a portion and save it for her. I haven't done that with the kitten yet. I'd like the kittens digestive system to get used to one thing before graduating to something else.

Feline's Pride saved the life of my DSH when she almost died of IBD. I had been transitioning her from kibble to canned to raw when her lifemate died and she went into a tailspin. The vet's recommended prescription diet made her worse and she was down to 4 lbs from 9 lbs. Within 2 days of starting Feline's Pride, her vomiting and diarrhea stopped; within a month, her coat was glossy and she was acting like a kitten. She was 14 at the time and she is 18 now and still going strong despite having CRF.

RadKat is another good option. You may be able to get that locally. http://www.radfood.com/where_to_buy

Thank God! My best friend walked in my apartment last night, shook her head and said " I will meet you in the car." lol

I think I'm going to try some different food.
