Kitten sucking paws

We have two F6 kittens which moved to live with us only a week ago. We love them to bits! When cuddling up to us they often suck one girl's paw and really enjoy this, purring and kneading enthusiastically. I've read that this is common for kittens and not harmful unless they make the paw sore. The girl whose paw they both suck seems to enjoy it but we managed to distract them today as the paw looked a little swollen. Does anyone have any experience of this? We'd welcome ideas and opinions.

I agree that it is not uncommon for kittens to suckle, just like a human baby sucks on a pacifier. Unfortunately we can rarely choose what that item is for them so I would just continue doing what you already are by watching the paw closely and giving it a break from the sucking when it looks like it's had enough...
