It's 530 am here in the DC suburbs, getting crushed with 60 mph winds and Layla wants to play. My fire place on the deck is destroyed and i am sure part of the deck is as well. The cage doesn't work since she is causing a havoc in there, can't bring her on the bed because she jumps off, she broken in to her toy box and well... That got taken away. I put her in the master shower with a blanket and her temporary litter box and she just plays in it. I took a sleeping aid, I think I ll give some to her as well lol j/k. So far a great night and day, I think I ll sleep in the dog cage instead. It will be safer and darker :)

I feel for you! That first night crated is rough and they make every inch of it into a circus tent. I really didn't have a choice and just elevated the floor plan to reduce the head space. Time outs in the carrier when he would get too wound up.

The litter box being turned into a child's sandbox is also disheartening. I ended up filling it up with a greater amount of litter than I would have liked so there would be less urine tracking. Of course I had kicked litter everywhere, but it was a trade off of having less urine and feces tracked through the cage.

By the time you get the routine somewhat dialed in she will be out and back to her normal routine. They will invent new challenges for you every day to try and break your will and release them. Definitely some of the toughest days in my life and the first few were the worst.

I hope all goes well getting your fireplace and deck put back together and I'm afraid to see the carnage the big bad wolf left for us last night.

Good luck!... It was hard for me as I had two of them jumping off the walls crazy from the meds and knocking everything over with the cones. Not to mention theyd take the cones off and chew/rip out the stitches... Then help each other rip them out. Needless to say I don't want to go through that again so I feel for you!

I'd just keep a super watchful eye :)

So far so good, she is not wearing a cone but we put on her walking harness which stops her from licking the area of Laporscopy. I am glad I went with this procedure instead since the operation area is much smaller and recovery is about 3 days. The paid meds make her want to sleep next to us all day and so far she is eating like a champ. Next SV will be a boy for sure :)
