Litter robot questions

just received my litter robot III. Henry loves it! But totally kicks litter out of it on the floor. But I can live with that! Few questions about it:

1. What type/brand of litter do most people use?

2. Henry loves it but I have one DSH who was a rescue and is skittish and scared of it. I've tried all the tricks in the manual but she won't go near it. In fact when I removed the old litter box, she just pooped and peed on the floor where it used to be even though the robot and another litter box (breeze) was next to it any ideas? Does anyone else have a robot and still have to keep a regular box?

3. Henry climbs in it while it is rotating and it keeps on rotating. Isn't it supposed to stop if he gets in?

Thank you! It's just a huge investment and I really want it to work for our family. It seems a shame if I still have to keep another litter box!

1. I use either Dr Elseys or World's Best
2. You are not supposed to just remove the old litterboxes until all cats are using the litter robot. It may be that your DSH will never use it...I also have regular litter boxes as one of my males is too big to fit in it. Honestly, I never expected the litter robot to completely eradicate my use of regular litterboxes. On the website, they have suggestions on how to introduce your cats to it.
3. Yes, it is supposed to stop, so you need to check the sensitivity...how much does he weigh? Take a look at the website - they have the instructions via PDF and an FAQ section.

He is 11-12 lbs already ao he should be setting it off. I didn't see anything about checking the sensitivity. I'll have to look at the manual again

Does worlds best cat litter work in the litter robot? How is it for odor control in other boxes?

Dr. Elsey's precious cat litter.

Do you have it on a rug? I had the same issue and bought a gym mat meant to place under machines and cut it to size for under mine since my rug was too deep. I am sure a chair mat would also work if that is the issue. Also, every time I add litter I reset the sensor by making sure I have a blue light and then pressing the reset button.

Leo is a litter kicker and after trying several types of litter mats I found an inexpensive one in WalMart. It's a flat rug that can easily be lifted and folded to funnel the litter back in. I have found that the "litter trapper" type rugs need to be taken outside and beaten and they STILL have litter in them.

I think that the same rule still applies for litter boxes even with the litter robot. Number of cats +1 extra. I have 3 cats, 2 litter robots and 2 boxes. They mostly use the robots, but if there is a dispute or one is just having a crazy day then they still have choices. I know Leo has days when he drops a bomb and even I won't use that bathroom, lol, and kitties are much more sensitive.

What mat from Walmart are you using? And do you have your litter robot in a bathroom? I would love to see pictures if you have them. I know that sounds weird but I'm trying to figure out where I can put the litter robot in a bathroom to fit
