I read recently that when concocting a raw diet you should add 1000mg of taurine to every kg or 2.2lbs of food.

Is that added at each meal or once a day? My cat is eating 4 times a day right now at 19wks old.

That's added to 2.2lbs of food, so however much your cat is eating this formula supposedly meets his requirements for taurine. So if he's only eating 8oz food a day then he would probably be getting about 350mg taurine. I think food intake is generally estimated by the weight of the cats, so one can surmise from this calculation that the amount of taurine is also based on weight.

DChap you're feeding a commercial brand? Even if feeding raw, I think it's best to add the taurine each meal rather than to a batch of food that will be frozen and then thawed. Taurine as well as other nutrients can degrade when frozen or cooked so adding to the food right before it's eaten is best.

Yes I have read that about taurine on here a few times so I am thinking of adding it to his commercial prepared frozen raw even though it has taurine in it already.
