idk they appeared to be genuine animal lovers doing it for the right reasons, but I can't ignore that if it is true.
You need to do your homework and make sure someone has your back. FYI, there is a breeder in California who consistently sells sick cats, quite a few of which have died. There are members here who bought from them. There are people on Facebook who bought from them. This particular breeder claims to breed F2.5 kittens. There is no such thing. She also breeds cats that are not savannahs but sells them as such. When people come here for advice about this breeder and we tell what we know, some still buy from her anyway and then come back here with tragic stories. One thing the buyers always say about her is that she is soooooo nice and loves her animals and really seems to know what she's doing.

There no testimonials on your breeder's site. If you decide to purchase from them, ask for a lot of references from buyers and from their vet and call, write them. Ask a lot of questions -- was the kitten friendly or scared; did any health issues develop with the cat and what were they.

Wow, thats extremely insightful! Thats so ironic that you said that, like domestic hybrids or something, I almost bought from before I was warned the same thing! They are on savannahcat.com, who only post legit breeders as far as I know, and tica website as well! Still need to look more into tho

Excuse me? I have a DL that says other wise, its February break I'm with my family. You do not have the right to jump to such conclusions, or have the place to tell me I can't own a savannah. It's pretty ignorant, my mail drivers license and school ID negates any of your accusations.

Yes, I actually do have the right...it is my forum, I have seen cats confiscated, you are posting from NY, so yes, I can and will jump to that conclusion. That breeder sells cats to illegal states and I'm sorry, but I don't believe you...I don't believe that even if you go to school in Ohio, you won't take the cat back to NY...have seen too many like you and heard the same stories...

Unfortunately, neither savannahcat.com nor TICA vets their breeders. Either one will remove a breeder from listing/membership if enough complaints are filed, I believe. The reason Paige got so upset with you is that she is a breeder who is active in the SV community and she has a strict vetting process for breeders who list kittens for sale on this forum. So she knows what she's talking about when it comes to who is trustworthy and who is shady.

And any breeder is going to go ballistic when someone asks about size. There is no way a breeder can guarantee size because mother nature and genes are a total crapshoot. No one can predict how large a cat will get. Potential owners who focus on size are always suspect to ethical breeders because they worry a cat will get tossed aside if it doesn't grow to be big. It's a very touchy issue, especially for SV breeders, for a lot of reasons.

So now knowing you are a student, what do you do when you are graduated? If you have a Savannah maybe, to know laws in NY... when you go back to your parents...every state has different laws

Christina has a good point. If you move somewhere where SVs are illegal, you'll have a choice to make between giving up a job or giving up your cat. If you move somewhere where they are illegal hoping no one will find out or tell authorities, you'll be taking a big chance. There is no end to the number of assholes on this planet. Friends have tattled on friends. We've seen all the worst behavior of humans on this forum.

I understand, I actually like that you are concerned because it shows the care of the breed. I've thought of all this, I have an internship and I know in my heart I'll never live in buffalo again, not bc of cat but just not where I can live my life.
