Ohio breeders.

I am in the process of doing some research on getting my first Savannah and was wondering if anyone had any experience with any breeders in Ohio? I found a website called Savannahcat.com that show 3 breeders in Ohio. I looked at the two with current kittens and the one in Cleveland has a F3 for the same price as a F2 in Toledo?

Ideally I would like to get a F3 but may not be able to afford it. It is also concerning that I have found F3's from 2500-5500 and do not know how to tell the difference. I recently lost my rescue cat due to a genetic heart issue after 7 years so the Savannah is appealing to me because I don't want to lose a cat early again and don't want to get screwed.

Any help is appreciated!

I'm not familiar with any of the Ohio breeders. Prices vary for a lot of reasons. Usually price is based on how close the kitten is to the standard -- i.e. how close its body features are to the serval. Here is the TICA standard for SVs http://www.tica.org/pdf/publications/standards/sv.pdf If you look at the zillions of photos we have on here of different generations, you'll begin to be able to see the differences between cats who are close to the standard and those who are not. But remember, no matter what the body looks like, the personality will be huge, fun, and a life changer.

We have a list of breeders on here who have been fully vetted by Paige, who owns this forum. She has a current litter, can't remember the generation, and she's in New Jersey. Sue Armstrong of Amara Savannahs is in Kentucky and has a litter of F5 kittens.

You can take a look at past kittens available through our member breeders http://www.savannahcatchat.com/forums/savannah-kittens-for-sale-usa-and-canada.13/ and see if you like what you see.

Don't limit yourself to breeders in your immediate area. Although convenient, you might miss out on a great kitten. And there are some spectacular cats out there at F4, 5, 6 so don't cheat yourself by not looking at those generations.

Hi Mike,

@Pam Flachs has a litter of kittens that are currently available and she is in Michigan, not far from you...she is a moderator here, a good friend and a great breeder...if you look in the breeder directory here, you will see her info here: http://www.savannahcatchat.com/threads/clos-du-chat-savannah-cats-michigan.327/

Hello,
I purchased my F2 Boujié from Fuzioncatz in Ohio. Jennifer is a wonderful breeder and sent me home with the most well socialized kitten I have ever experienced. I recommend her highly. She is currently taking a break (or was 6mo back).
When doing my own research on breeders I noticed many price fluxuitons also. The price will vary from breeder to breeder and is dependent on many different factors in my experience. Research on the breeder is very important when purchasing a kitten!
