Retractable Screen Door

Hi all,

Question for all of you Savannah veterans: We are living in a house with very few actual doors in the main area, which is a problem when you want to do something without the help of Savannahs. I'm thinking of adding doors to the living room area, but they need to be folding in some way to not get in the way and I would prefer screen doors so that I can watch them. Of course, I'm aware that screen doors and Savannahs do not mix well. In my search, I came across Plisse retractable screen doors and have found several posts that say that they stand up to cats. But of course, "cats" does not mean Savannahs. Has anyone ever successfully used these or any other retractable screen doors? If anyone has any other suggestions for folding-type doors, retractable screen doors - or any other door suggestions that stand up to Savannahs, I will entertain any idea at this point. Thanks!

I've never heard of them before but they appear to be pretty fragile just looking at the online photos. I would contact the company and ask if they have a heavy duty screen option that is cat/claw resistant.

Like Patti, I've not ever heard of them. I'd be interested to hear how they work out, even from general cat owners...

I’ve emailed a few questions to the company and I’ll be curious to see what they say. I read on a separate site that the screen material itself is tough and apparently there is something about the design itself that makes it difficult for cats to grab hold of it. Of course, these are regular cats they're talking about not Savannahs. If I do decide to take the plunge, I'll take pictures and let everyone know if they are successful or not. They would certainly solve a big issue for me if they do work!
