As I said on FB about this, I think TROPHY HUNTERS should be hunted and Killed. Being human ( and I use that term loosely ) does NOT give you the right to be god and decide which animal should and should not have the right to live. I wish a happy hereafter for Cecil, and I hope his killer dies slowly, suffering.

I heard about this yesterday, but could not bring myself to read about it - until tonight.

I detest trophy hunting...I am shocked and saddened beyond words for Cecil and Cecil's 24 cubs will probably now be killed due to the hierarchy of the pride.

If there is any good to come out of this, it is that Cecil's death will not be in vain...I'm hoping that Zimbabwe will stop allowing trophy hunting...if not, at least trophy hunting has been brought to the forefront and billions are now aware of this disgusting "sport" RIP Cecil

I have shed a few tears for Cecil. After my angre subsided. I shows me there are two types of humans on this planet. Those that respect life and care for the universe and those that are not worthy of remaining in the universe. Nice to know those on this forum are the repecters and lovers.
I agree Paige, Trophy Hunting should be universally banned.

JOINT PRESS STATEMENT BY ZIMBABWE PARKS AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY AND SAFARI OPERATORS ASSOCIATION OF ZIMBABWE ON THE ILLEGAL HUNT OF A COLLARED LION AT ANTOINETTE FARM, HWANGE DISTRICT ON 1 JULY 2015 IN GWAYI CONSERVANCY BY BUSHMAN SAFARIS PROFESSIONAL HUNTER, THEO BRONKHORST.

Theo Bronchorst, a professional hunter with Bushman Safaris is facing criminal charges (VIC FALLS Police CR 27/07/2015) for allegedly killing a collared lion on Antoinette farm in Gwayi Conser...vancy, Hwange district on 1 July 2015. The lion named ‘Cecil’ was well known and regularly sighted by tourists in the Main camp area of Hwange National Park. It is alleged that the hunter connived with the Antoinette land owner, Mr. Honest Trymore Ndlovu to kill the lion. Ongoing investigations to date, suggest that the killing of the lion was illegal since the land owner was not allocated a lion on his hunting quota for 2015. Therefore, all persons implicated in this case are due to appear in court facing poaching charges.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management as the Regulatory Authority and custodian of all wild animals in Zimbabwe issues hunting permits and hunting quota for all hunting areas in Zimbabwe so that only animals on quota are to be hunted. In this case, both the professional hunter and land owner had no permit or quota to justify the offtake of the lion and therefore are liable for the illegal hunt.
Both professional hunter Theo Bronkhorst’s licence number 553 who was involved in the hunt and the owner of Antoinette farm, Mr. Honest Trymore Ndlovu are being jointly charged for illegally hunting the lion. The two are due to appear in court on Wednesday, 29 July 2015. Efforts are being made to interview the other professional hunter, Zane Bronkhorst, licence number 558, who was also involved in the illegal hunt.
The Professional Hunter Theo Bronkhosrt’s Licence has been suspended with immediate effect. The lion trophy has also been confiscated. The relevant stakeholders have been informed and are being updated about this matter.

Looks like Justice may happen, I hope the issue of Cecil's cubs comes up in court also, there was no reason to bait and kill this lion and I would love to hear Palmer is in a Africa prison for this crime , this article is from Bushman Safari on Facebook

It would be nice if he would have to do jail time in prison in Africa. But tis probably will not happen.
Hopefuly the outrage of the general population here in the US will make Palmer's dental practice null and void and he will lose his family and will face a life of poverty and disdain.

"The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing of 'Cecil the lion.' That investigation will take us wherever the facts lead," said Edward Grace, the agency's deputy chief of law enforcement, in the statement.

Reuters reports that the Fish and Wildlife Service is looking into whether Palmer violated the Lacey Act, which, among other things, makes it a federal crime to trade in wildlife killed in violation of foreign law.

Hey, Walter Palmer, the Obama administration wants to talk to you.

It seems as though the US fish and wildlife service is unable to get in touch with him. So if things don't end up as jail time in Africa, he may just end up doing time here.

Guess it was too scary to go out in the bush and hunt the lion, the big, brave hunter had to resort to coaxing one off a preserve.

Just can't wrap my brain around that type of mentality. Very, very sad. As Jimmy Kimmel said, there is Viagra for those sorts of manhood issues.

RIP Cecil.
