Hello. I have been reading some of the posts on this group and I see there are quite a few very nice people on here. So I decided to post.
My name is Connie and I have been wanting a Savannah for the past 8 years. I have always done research, but the past few months I have really been rigorous about learning more about the breed. The Savannahs attracted me with their very exotic look from the start. Who hasn't been captivated after seeing one? But I would never buy any pet solely on looks. Now, I am head over heels with their personalities and high level of intelligence. I will be honest, I absolutely love feisty, mischievous cats. I am still researching and this site is wonderful because I find nothing more valuable than the experience of people who own Savannahs and not just what breeders say. I am not suggesting that breeders aren't a great resource of information, they absolutely are. But to be able to read the viewpoints and struggles of Savannah pet owners, is VERY useful to me in my quest for the right kitten. I breed Munchkins and Scottish Folds. Before I get anyone attacking me for breeding mutations, I will invite anyone to ask me questions regarding my breeding ethics. Although I could fill up this entire page with information, I'll just let you know a little bit.
1. I breed full pedigree, championed, Queens and Kings.
2. I go above and beyond in genetic testing, and checking all the way through the pedigree for any possible genetic disorders. I have spent weeks calling people and asking questions before purchasing a cat for my breeding program. (I have 3 queens and one stud. That's our limit. All our cats are family members and have never seen the inside of a cage. We also have a senior, spayed family cat and a wonderful Doberman.)
3. I have been breeding for 8 years, and not one kitten has had any genetic medical issues. Not one. It CAN happen regardless of my thoroughness, but thank God, it has not. We really go above and beyond to breed these beauties correctly.
4. All my kittens are registered through TICA and I never sell to just anyone. I am extremely particular who I sell to and have made long lasting friendships with the families that have gotten a kitten from me.
Why am I explaining all of this here? I would like to find a very reputable, respectable breeder of Savannahs so that we can make a trade. Of course, it won't be an equal trade. I will pay the difference. I would like an F1 or F2. I will not be breeding Savannahs and would like a neutered/spayed kitten to be our new family member.
Our kittens are quite the lap warmers and although they are kitten-like in their play way into their adults years, I would love to have the high energy level Savannah. I have twenty years of cat experience. I'm a total crazy cat woman. LOL.
I was VERY reluctant to post. I've seen other groups on the internet and they can be very cruel. Please, ask questions before judging me. I am always very receptive to questions, as all breeders should be.
If you are an amazing Savannah breeder and find me to be a great candidate for one of your babies, I would love to exchange emails and phone numbers.
