Savannat cat peeing outside of his litterbox (UTI) ... What should i do ?

Hello folks,

I have a savannah cat (7 yo) with huge problem : my savannah is peeing outside of litterbox (UTI).
Earlier this morning, i had the miserable surprise to have wet shoes (pee'd on my shoes). Yesterday, it was the countertop and concrete floor in basement, close to his litterbox.

I have to mention also that my savannah has CKD (chronic kidney disease) at stage 3 with subq fluids (100 ml) every 2 days.
Also, my girlfriend is pregnant (36 weeks today), savannah surely knows something is gonna happen about upcoming new member of family.
My vet told me also this could be UTI caused by anxiety. My savannah passed some urinary tests with no signs of blood or crystals.

Is there any of you had this problem before (pre req : pregnant woman) ?

It sounds like it may be stress-related? Many cats often have different reactions and stressors to change and pregnancy could definitely do that...how many litterbnoxes do you have?

You're juggling quite the problem with a cat who has a progressive disease that can be exacerbated by stress. Assuming his potassium levels are ok; he's on an appropriate diet; there's no UTI; and the peeing isn't a sign of progression of the CKD, you can try adding more litter boxes, spending extra time with him, letting him smell and explore all of the new things you've brought into the house for the baby, and most of all, giving him a baby-free space that contains his favorite things -- toys, blankets, cat beds, whatever it takes. If the vet thinks this is stress-related, then you need to explore ways to reduce his stress.

I have 4 litter boxes in the house, all spreaded in different places. 5 water sources spreaded also. He had many places to climb up, a cat house for him (sleeping in 1st floor, with good sheets) and sleeping at our feets during night.

You might also consider using Cat Attract litter or additive. Also, be sure to set aside a special time just for your boy when you play and love on him. It doesn't have to be a long time, 15 - 30 minutes is adequate, but try to make it at the same time every day so he comes to expect it and knows he will always get special time from you just for him.
