Save the Claws 101...

Jeni

Aniyah's mommy
Saturday night, after a FULL day of chasing the dogs and vice versa, is the ONLY time Aniyah is worn out enough to be still for more than a milisecond:rolleyes: So we have a "standing appointment" with each other for nail trimming at oh.....around 10:30pm! This past Saturday was the first time she was conked out so hard that I got every single little finger and toe trimmed. She's been letting me pretty consistently trim her front claws but not the back so this was a definite first:big grin:

We got Ami 8 weeks ago. Her breeder had been clipping her nails every week. We wait until she is sleepy and get as much done as possible. She wont take any treats so I have no way right now of telling her how good she is. She does the same thing by not using her nails all the time. I noticed she is way better with our kids than with us for playing. They are so much fun!

Our kitties must be kindred spirits because mine is very anti-treats as well. AND she allows my almost 3 year old daughter to pick her up / drag her around without a single bite or scratch! If I handled her the way my daughter does, I'd be reprimanded in a heart beat that's for sure!:roflmao:

Savannah Super Cat
oh my god!!!!!!!!!! ive never heard of this!!!

i salute and respect you for acknowledging that its inhumane and it will never happen to your new kitty

ive got a f1 and have used nail clipers tonight to see if it will help with the pain of her pouncing but lets be honest there cats and its in there nature

my coco was fine with it, a bit bitey but she put up with it like a little star :)

ive got about 25 different scratching post in every one of my rooms in the house and have never had a problem with furniture scratching etc

stalking me and pouncing on me,,,,,,,,,,, now thats a different matter haha

Nitro

and his servant, Paul
I was at Petsmart today and was in shock with how many people assumed and/or asked if Nitro was declawed...

Patience will let you trim any cat's claws...though my brother doesn't seem to have enough patience with one of his Bengals.

In being 100% truthful with myself and everyone else, I've lost my patience a bajillion times since Sept 1st when we got Aniyah. But, I was determined and just kept telling myself to hang in there. And I'm sooooo glad I did! Yes, it's been an adjustment for us all but I remind myself.....she's a baby. She has more energy right now and is also a very bright young lady and that she'll get there eventually. Every single time she climbed my leg while I was wearing shorts, every single time her "sharp as a fish hook" claws poked me and made me bleed, I reminded myself....she's a baby and these things can be overcome and she can learn how to use and NOT use her claws. She's only 5 months old and has made TREMENDOUS strides!:big grin:

I think they go thru a stage where they try to hurt you. It's a thing here they need to see if they are more dominant. I just embarrass mine when they do that by acting like I'm hurt and make them feel guilty. It passes. You're right -patience.
