I'm also considering a chausie. How do they compare to Savannahs?

Chausies can be very similar to Savannahs, except of course in looks! They will get along with your Savannah just as well though

What kind of personality changes are typical of the later generations? Will they behave similar to my F3 or more like a typical cat?

With all the hybrid-derived cat breeds (Bengals, Savannah, Chausies), they retain some of the energy and interaction but they lose some of the intensity and persistence of the early generations as Witchy mentioned. Doesn't mean that they are not active and don't get into mischief! I would say that my F5s are more likely to get up to ridiculous heights and in that kind of trouble than my F1s... one of my F1s is a terrible chewer of certain objects while I have not had that issue with any of my later generations. I find the later generations easier pets, but I do think that you need to be much more selective of the breeder/program as it takes much more work to select the right cats to have something special at F5 than it does at F2 level...

I have not found Chausies to be similar to Savannahs but have found my Chausie compliments my Savannahs perfectly. That is why I love having both! I have a F2 Chausie along with my Savannahs and have found the Chausie to be WAY more mellow and way less stubborn and persistent than any of the Savannahs or Bengals I have had or known. Everyone else that I know that has a Chausie feels the same. Although there are some exceptions, a Chausie is more laid back than a Savannah but can put up with all of the Savannahs tomfoolery. I think it is a great combo.

I am interested in learning about the F5 that you have since you have a variety of generations. I have an F5 SBT Male. He is long and skinny. Very active and trying to make sure he is getting a balance diet. How long is your F5? Are they tall? What type of personality do they have?

The two F5s I have in the house are both females, hence they are not as tall. All of their brothers were really pretty large though, attaining 20lbs of lean Savannah by a year old. As females though, they are more 9-10lb cats.
In terms of personality, I've had a lot of Savannahs over the years because I am also a breeder. My cats tend to be very mischievous...partly because I let them and partly because I probably have selected for that personality. I like naughty cats! I find them much more amusing and I appreciate the thinking that goes into their mischief. My two girls are ALWAYS ready to play if I pick up a wand toy they are the first to leap in there. One is the most dominant in play and the two F1s and the F3 will always give way to her. But at the end of the day, they all want to snuggle in bed. My princess F5 girl Zari gets "prime" position curled up next to me and the rest pile around after...
