Tonks & Luna

Hello everyone!
This is Katy and Bobby, the proud owners of Tonks (2 year old male F5) and Luna (<1 year old female F4) Savannah cats. I have been a cat owner my whole life, but have never experienced a Savannah until we got Tonks last year, and let me tell you.. I'll never go back!
Unfortunately, the reason that I joined this forum is because our baby boy Tonks has been having health issues since we got him in October, and we are hoping someone here has some advice. When we got him, he had all of his shots and the breeder stated (and still states) that he never showed any signs of health issues. When we got him he was pretty congested and sneezing, and we took him to the vet to get a general check up. The vet told us that since he had just been neutered and adopted, he probably sounded congested due to stress. However, it never went away. We've taken Tonks to the vet about 4 times, put him on a few different medicines and done the full swab to test for infections, to no avail. The vet is suggesting that we do a sedated CT scan and take him to a specialist, but all of these visits are adding up and I'd like to avoid these expensive options if possible.
The breeder we got him from did suggest that we give him fish doxy, which we did for 30 days, and this seemed to work perfectly (we got Luna a few weeks later when it seemed like he was cured). However, about 3 months later he is back to the same symptoms. We started giving him the doxy again, but it doesn't seem to be helping this time and don't want to over medicate him or build up some sort of immunity to the medicine. He is sneezing (have not seen discharge like he had in the past), occasionally wheezing and sounds generally very stuffed up. He also seems to lick everything when he is congested, but i am unsure if this is correlated. These symptoms do not seem to affect his behavior or appetite at all (he's the sweetest, most affectionate, playful and curious little guy of all time).
If anyone has had any experience with this and has any suggestions, we'd love to hear it! We love the little guy so much and want him to be 100% healthy. Attached are some pictures of the two of them, enjoy and thank you in advance for any advice.

**Side note: Luna is in great health and shows no symptoms of any kind of health issue

Welcome! That suitcase shot is precious.

A close of mine friend adpoted a Bombay kitten last year, and he had exactly the same symptoms you describe. She recently tried changing cat litters to a low dust variety. He cleared right up! He'd been back and forth to the vet several times with no underlying health issues found.

Hope that's all it is!

Hi Rebecca, thank you for the idea, I hadn't thought of that yet. We've been using a pine pellet litter (which is what the breeder was using) but we will definitely try that!
And thanks for the comment on the picture! They are so funny, every time a suitcase comes out they immediately jump right in and it's a process to try to get them off of it :)

Welcome to all of you Great photos! I would try a low dust litter...sometimes pine causes allergies...I'm assuming he has had a uri pcr?

If Luna is not showing any similar signs I would lean more toward this being an allergy - if not the litter then possibly something else in the environment. It's been a few days since the last post so hopefully you have had success with the litter change and all is well now!
