Urinary Tract Food

My 4-year-old F4 male is currently hospitalized with a kidney and bladder infection. They were able to catheterize him and remove the blockage, so he's doing well. They have him on a special urinary tract diet. I just spoke with the vet tech and she said that he will need to stay on that diet. I asked her if the food contained grain because he cannot properly digest grain. She said that it does and does not know of any urinary tract foods that don't contain grain. I asked if he had diarrhea. She said he did, but they were attributing that to the antibiotics he's taking. I told her it was probably the food. Does anyone know of any urinary tract support foods that Savannahs can digest? I'm at a catch 22 here. Please help!

I think you need to ry a grain-free wet food...your cat needs low ash...so something like earthborn holistics, Before the grain, etc...plenty of water, so you may want to get a water fountain if you do not have one...also if you are interested, a raw diet would probably eliminate the issue all together.

I agree with Paige...raw diets have worked wonders for many cats with urinary issues
