It looks like the fur has been scraped off. All of my cats have a similar spot on their hind legs from jumping down from the tops of cabinets and scraping their hind legs on the wood. Keep an eye on it. If it gets bigger or starts to ooze or gets crusty looking, take him to the vet to make sure it isn't something such as an infection or ringworm.

Does it appear to bother him? Itchy? Did you or he have any contact with other cats, or any dogs a week or so ago?

It looks like it could just be a scrape, but if it bothers him, spreads, or gets in any way worse l would take
him to your vet to get tested for skin parasites(mange). My family had a Siamese who contracted this when I was little, it came from us petting the neighbors dog who had it, unbeknownst to the owner, and then petting our cat. If the dog hadn't lived next door, we never would have known how Baadee got it, which is why I asked about contact with dogs.

Not trying to alarm you at all, and hopefully - it's nothing! Fingers crossed!

Thank you, I will keep an eye on it to make sure that it doesn't transform into anything like that.

It could be nothing but it looks like ringworm to me, so I would have it checked out with your vet as ringworm is highly contagious.
