  1. Hello, this is my first post.We currently have a 8 month old female F3 Savannah, her name is Teeka. Our sweet 14 year old siamese who was easy going, easily adjusted, loving, cuddly male cat recently passed away from a heart attack and I can tell she misses him. They used to "play" (she would harass him, until he had enough and he would chase her thru out the house." They kept each other company when we were not around. Our Savannah Teeka is very sweet natured, but she loves to pretend hunt play, & seeks attention all the time. I would like to get a kitten to keep her company and for her to have a playmate. I am torn between getting another Savannah kitten or getting a domestic cat like a Siamese. I am also wondering if I should get another male or if I should get a female kitten. If we do decide to get another Savannah, is it possible that Teeka could become more attached to the kitten than me? Right now, we spend a lot of time playing and cuddleling. (When she demands it).She is my girl. I am also wondering if I get another Savannah, what generation I should get, another F3? If any if you have any experience with this or have any advice for me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you

I think that any active breed kitty (e.g., Siamese, Highlander, Chausie, Bengal, Abyssinian, etc.) would do well with Teeka. You should be able to gauge how she will bond with a new kitty based on how bonded she was with your Siamese. If she was still closely bonded to you when your Siamese was her companion, I wouldn't expect that to change.

As for whether to get a male or female, if you plan on having them both altered it may not matter, but in general females (even if spayed) tend to be more assertive, bossy, and territorial, so relations are typically smoother if you get a male companion for your female cat, however again, a female may not be any problem either.

As for generation if you do decide to go with another Savannah, I don't think this much matters either as long as you find a kitten whose personality matches Teeka's active, playful lifestyle.
