6 month Achilles eating TONS

Achilles looks great and not overweight at all. As others have said, it it's okay to free feed a kitten - they need LOTS of energy because they burn it off so fast. As he gets older his food demands will decrease. He looks like a great kitty!

Yes, they can seem to eat SO much when younger... and being higher energy cats I think they burn through a lot of food without showing the effects of it too. If your cat isn't fat and is hungry, I would feed as much as they ask. It's only my chubby British Shorthair that gets ignored here if they ask for food... poor George...

Achilles is a beautiful boy!! And yes kittens eat a LOT, but Savannah kittens eat even more. What type of food are you feeding him? It's poasible that he needs more protein to keep him full.

This is what I'm currently feeding him. It seems as though it's the best I can find in town. I don't live in a big city...so choices are limited and from what I've been told from the vet and others I may be the only one with a savannah in this town.

The proteins aren't too bad but there are, as usual with most commercial foods, too many unnecessary fillers. How about adding in some of Holistic canned to his diet? Are you open to the idea of adding some raw meat into his diet? Chicken thighs and legs, some organ meats such as heart, gizzards; beef and beef heart. Give him the raw in addition to the kibble and/or canned.

You can also order food online and have it delivered so you're not restricted to what is available where you live.

Occasionally he gets chopped up cooked chicken breast. Just seems so weird to feed em raw meat I don't want to get the wrong things. Just feed him straight up out of package the meat? He gets canned food 3 times a week also.

If you are feeding him raw meat in addition to his commercial food, you won't have to worry so much about the proportions as his commercial food is nutritionally sufficient. You can just slap something down for him once in awhile. If you decided to feed just raw you would have to take more into account the proportions/supplements if you were doing slab meat
