Advice needed about my Savannah purchase!

The biggest thing that upsets me about S.E., is have plastic, you got cat. No pre-adoption criteria, no long term support, unless you are completely satisfied, that is. Plastic clears, yeah, you are good to go.!!!

My first and second SV was from SE. Both being F3's.. Spontaneity is a very special girl, Totally one loving fantastic girl. My boy, Being black with slightly different black spots, was a leftover, available now. Loved the breed so much, I adopted Sam.

Sampson showed signs of neglect and mistreatment, along with a eating disorder, which I feel was because he wasn't a pretty boy. It's taken 5 years of modifying behavior to get my boy to where he is today.

After 5 years of working with my boy, and then notifying them of my concerns, yeah, no response was ever returned. All I am saying, is with a facility that large, it would be a surprise if something like this didn't happen.

Am I a dissatisfied customer??? No fraking way, love my cats, all of them. And without them I'd never of considered getting My F2 wonder twins.

If you need a cat right now, yeah, S.E. will deliver. Want the top quality cat/cats, that were meant fur you, and not at the top premium price, any of the breeder members here, would be the best bet to find that special companion.

When searching for my recent adoption, I've gotten to know quite a few breeders. All of them have been helpful, kind, and instrumental at helping me find Tink & Rufio, my special F2 twins.

Mods, if I've over stepped my rights to express my honest opinion and concerns, feel free to delete this post, but at least I put it out there.

Dice, that is a good take on SE. I got my first two Savannah kittens from SE and without complaint. Holly was great when I was buying a kitten, and nearly impossible to catch up with when I wasn't. I also wish Dale took a more active role in the business, as he's incredibly bright on the animal science front and their breeding success encompasses more than just Savannahs.

I guess I've two questions from this thread. How many kittens are usually on the ground at once? My concern here is the theory that FIP risk increases with the number of cats. Second question would be-- do you get support when things go wrong? I think when looking at reviews-- you'll mostly see pro reviews if everything goes right. It's when things go crappy, I want to know the breeder I've bought from will be there for me. Not just disappear or refuse to answer or as some do-- just don't care.

Thank you for the synopsis on their facility btw. I always imagined it a bit more high tech.

When our first kitten was obtained, we had a problem with loose stools. We did get advice and support for the few weeks it took to resolve.
On another issue, we had contracted a kitten for our eldest son. We visited the cattery and even played with the kitten. When delivery time came, we called to set up the pick up in person as we always do. At that point we were informed by staff that the kitten would need some more time before placement. A few days later, Holly called us personally to relate the kitten suffered a massive seizure and passed away. She would not let her staff inform the client, she did it personally (she was out of town at the time). She offered a full refund, or any uncontracted kitten she had on hand or in the future. About two months later, we picked up a North American Spotted Moose, who has turned out to be an amazing cat for my son. I am quite satisfied with the support I have received.
And I will personally state, in an unusual circumstance, Select Exotics made a very generous offer to help someone out (but I am not at liberty to discuss particulars). I was very impressed by this action.
So yeah, if I want another savannah in my life, I will be a return customer.

I never heard of the Savannah cat until spring 2012, we always had high end cat's but time and old age got them , I contacted SE about a F3 female they had, they gave me a discount and shipped her, it went bad , Holley called the airline and was on hold for 45 min but got F3 Camille on a plane that afternoon , we where very impressed with her, so impressed we got her a male playmate from SE to chase, Cody is a firecracker from SE, we have had no health problems from SE cats and they are very social with us, but they like to be private to strangers, our F2B is from a Traverse city breeder .

I know this is an older thread, but wanted to share my experience with SE. I purchased my 1st F2 from SE. He was the perfect kitten for me and I loved him very much. Unfortunately, my time with him was cut short. I only had him 3 months before he passed away from the wet form of FIP... awful/heartbreaking experience. From the time I first saw him and knew he had to be mine and later on once things went crappy, Holly was there for me. She seemed to be genuinely sorry for my loss and I never had any problems with her not wanting to honor the contract, partial refund or a replacement kitten of my choice whenever I was ready. Although, I must say I am extremely worried about the increased risk of my next kitten getting FIP... I don't think I have it in me to go through that again :(

FIP is a horrible, nasty disease, I'm so sorry you've had to live through it. Although its occurrence seems to be primarily spontaneous, there is some thought that there might be a genetic component to it as well. If you get a replacement kitten from SE it might be safer to get one that is unrelated to the kitten you lost, although again the genetic component is not consistent so odds are in your favor that it would be safe even getting a related kitten as a replacement for the one you lost.

The kitten is from a different breeding pair, but I'm not sure if the 1st generation (grandparents) are related... I'm hoping the odds are in my favor. I don't have any other cats or other pets and it has been about 5 months since I lost my furbaby and I have cleaned/sterilized everything & tossed some of the toys... although it's my understanding the virus, if it was shed, wouldn't have survived longer than a month and I still have another month to go before the kitten is old enough to leave SE.

I'm so sorry for your loss! FIP is truly a terrible disease...i don't believe it is contagious, so no problem bringing in another kitten... Like Patti has stated though, there is sometimes a genetic mutation, so I would definitely make sure the kitten is not related...

The odds are in your favor. Have 4 extremely healthy SV's. Two from S.E.

Feel fur your loss, but don't let this sadness keep you from the joys of a new companion!!!
