Agree with everyone about size. Misty (Bengal) was on the small size roughly 8-9 lbs yet she had huge personality. The girl you are thinking about adopting is adorable and sounds like she was well socialized. Older kittens may need a bit more time adjusting in new home but given her disposition I don't think you'll have issues. Do the 2-week quarantine and if she has adjusted well to her new home then introduce gradually to Lila.

I've had 2 cats until late last year and Jake is a bit lonely and has bugged me more than ever so I think having a new playmate will be good for him (and me). I don't think you should be worried about being replaced - both cats will always go to you. At times, Jake and Misty would ignore me - well that's not always the case with Misty but when I'm out all day they have each other and I think that is a good thing.

the breeder is doing shows. she is pretty busy lately. i hope to stop by sometime this week for one last look and make sure this is the one we want. after that she has to go to the vet for a check up and to be fixed. if all goes well i am thinking/hoping she will be with us in 12-18 days. it has been moving pretty slowly recently (which is killing us!).

after quarantine, what is the best slow introduction to lila? supervised visits or one in a cat carrier one out side and then switch?

how about keeping lila in a bedroom and having the new cat explore......then switch. how long should that happen?

any tips on signs to watch for in case we have to "re quarantine " before the lila introduction?

I don't remember how I did the introductions it's been at least 11 years ago. One thing I recall is swapping the blankets to allow both cats to sniff. I did think about letting the kitten out after 2-week quarantine and putting Jake in the master bedroom but the kitten needs to be able to return to the room in case she feels overwhelmed.

Introductions must be supervised, no matter what. In some cases the cats would just get along right off the bat and others may not and would take a while before they get used to each other.

I am sure others will chime in. I am sure I'll learn one or two things! And, I hear ya about the wait. I've been waiting for 5-6 weeks now.

Unfortunately there is no cookie cutter method to introductions. Use the suggestions in the link Deborah posted earlier in this thread and watch how your kittens interact when you are ready to introduce them. Based on how they react to each other will help you determine whether they will be immediate best friends, or will need a longer introduction period.

i am still here. life just slowed us down a bit. our SV went to the vet yesterday to get "fixed" and her check up. everything went great. we are hoping to pick her up in a week or so.

ok. we are set to pick her up on Sunday. she is available on Thursday but we have a trade show this weekend and will be gone sat and sun so i thought it would be better to not have her alone on her 1st days. so sunday evening it is.

we moved a bed into "her" room. should i put the bed frame under it to give her additional places to hide? there is a small closet. cat tree with box. cardboard box and a carrier for her to hide in. any other suggestions?

how about names? lets hear some ideas.

Lika got her name cause my wife liked it. She was to be called Phoenix. I picked that cause our last cat died in a house fire sept 2015. Lila was our 1st cat after the fire. I thought it was great. The wife settled on lila......
