Any savannah outdoor cats?

I had the 'privilege' of seeing a CT brain scan live of maggots squirming under a person's scalp. They had sustained a head wound and the maggots had gotten in and taken over...
Disgusting. Yet I'm sure it happens when animals sustain wounds and the wound tries to heal itself outdoors.

Outdoor life for animals isn't romping in meadows and playing. There's plenty of horror as well. No thanks. I'll keep my cats safe.

Thanks all for your support - I have to admit after seven months I really never expected to see Shil'loh again and initially didn't believe it was really him! I have been ecstatic ever since - such a joy to have him home, he is one of the sweetest kitties I've ever owned. Of course, he hasn't been too happy being locked away in quarantine but fortunately everything came back on him negative so now he can play with the rest of the gang

There was no number on the collar, it was just a cheap plastic collar with no markings...

Awww. It is so great that he found his way home. Him missed his mama and knew things would be better with you. I wish I had known about this before. But I am glad it turned out ok. heart

Such a miracle Patti. Happy to hear he is home and healthy. Such a blessing.

While I would certainly fear for the safety of our SVs if they escaped, I also believe they are such efficient hunters that they might just not have a need to come back. There are plenty of chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits around our home, all of which I'm sure would be more tasty than the frozen raw chicken and rabbit that I feed them. I'm sure the same is true from what I gather is rural Maryland and as someone else said, the risk/reward doesn't come close to making sense.
